Sheri Fredricks...Remedy Maker!

Squee!!

Sheri Fredricks is here! Yay!

I'm excited, not only because Sheri is a marvelous author and lovely lady, but also because I just read her new book Remedy Maker. I can officially give it my seal of approval. It's sexy and fun and mythological and you'll love it too.

So, read on for our interview and enjoy!
Welcome, Sheri!

1)    Did you always want to be an author?  If not, what else would you have done?

Becoming an author was a recent decision made four years ago. I’ve always liked to write and create stories, but gave them away. Now I wish I had kept a copy.

If I hadn’t started writing for publication, I would be traveling the same path I’d been on. This was working as my husband’s office manager, working around our little ranch, and chauffeuring the kids around.

Hey, wait a minute! I’m still doing those things!!

2)    What is the strangest job you ever had and why?

In my twenties, I met a gal at the gym and we soon became work-out buddies. I wanted a figure like hers – she competed in bikini contests. To supplement her waitress income, she also … lol … danced at private parties. She paid me to be her assistant. I would setup her music and talk to the horny guys in the bachelor parties. I got the crowd revved up to tip heavy. I caught her clothes when she flung them off so the audience didn’t try and steal them, and packed up her show when she was finished.

Why did I have that job? Well, when you’re twenty and single, you don’t always make the best choices. I thought it was hilarious watching the men watch her. Sure, I was taunted to “dance” myself – but good Lord no! I’m not brave enough for that.

3)    What is your favourite book of all time and why?

Ha! I have several. I’ll try and contain myself to name only one. How about…anything by Cherry Adair in her T-FLAC series?

4)    Describe your ideal hero or heroine (details please! *wink wink*)

My ideal hero has to be larger than life, able to carry through and get the job done. His smile should set fear in his enemies, or cause the heroine’s heart to flutter. Scars, inside or out, should add to his character. My ideal hero would never strike a woman (unless she was trying to kill him!), have patience with children and the elderly, and hate those who are cruel to animals.

Now, he should also know how to use his mind as well as his body when he made love. Whispered words to set the woman off on a slide into ecstasy, and place him above the rest of the crowd.

5)    What comes first for you: plot or character?

I’ve had both happen! In Remedy Maker, Rhycious came to me first and I wrote the outline around who and what he was. But I’m plotting the next book in the series because I already know who the main characters are.

6)    Who is, hands down, the sexiest actor of all time?

Without a doubt, Sean Connery.

7)    Describe your writing style please.

I sit my butt in a chair, apply hands to keyboard, and write. LOL  Actually, I think you mean who do I write like.  Well, that’s a good question. I’ve been told Remedy Maker is a cross between Narnia and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And if you take the test here, http://iwl.me/, it’ll compare your writing to famous authors. This program says I write like Anne Rice.

8)    Who is your favourite author and why?

That’s like asking me what’s my favorite book! Not fair. I admire the humor of Sandra Hill, the awesome worlds created by Jacqueline Frank, and the layered characters of Cherry Adair.

9)    What is on the horizon for you? Any interesting news or books we should know about?

I’m getting ready to release a short story. It’s a spinoff from Remedy Maker titled Portal of Oz. Here’s my book blurb:

Abelia, a Boronda Forest Wood Nymph, goes to the town of Willow Bay to satisfy her curiosity of human life, and finds more than she bargained for.

An archeologist named Jack can't wait to leave Pennsylvania and return to his work in Australia, where life is filled with dingos and roos.

Human hunters stalk the enthralling Abelia, and an unknowing Jack comes to her rescue by creating a ruse of helping her choose a bonsai from a street vendor. The hunters back off, but she suddenly vanishes, and Jack is left confused as he returns to his home in the Outback.

…then she suddenly shows up in his kitchen.

I’m also working on Book Two of the Centaur series tentatively named Troll-y Yours. The story involves a Centaur side character with a huge ego named Aleksander, introduced in Remedy Maker. He meets the only mythic female in the Boronda Forest who isn't fazed by his charms and good looks and whoo-boy the sparks fly!

    1. For awhile, it was fun. But you also see a seeder, ugly side to men when they're drunk. But man, the money for a dancer can be quite good!
